Journeys Within our Community (JWOC) is proud to partner with Kaanect to support our student sponsorship program.
JWOC was co-founded by Andrea Ross in 2005. While living in Cambodia she saw the needs of a struggling population, the desire of travelers to provide support, and realized that there was an opportunity to work as an intermediary between them. Years later, JWOC has become more than she ever dreamed possible. What started as See a Problem, Solve a Problem, evolved into a University Scholarship Program to reduce the financial barriers associated with pursuing higher education and has now evolved into a comprehensive youth development program with targeted interventions at various stages of young peoples’ educational, personal and professional growth.
From Journeys Within to Wild Frontiers and now with Kaanect, having the tourism industry supporting our work has been an invaluable opportunity to develop the lives of Cambodian youth. We are very excited that this year Kaanect will be sponsoring a student and we appreciate them spreading the word about the project and our needs.
COVID19 has created enormous economic consequences for cities like Siem Reap that depend on tourism to survive. Globally, the world is facing many economic, environmental, social, political and cultural challenges; challenges that the next generation of youth will inherit.
We are inviting you to be part of a unique opportunity to give the gift of education to a young Cambodian student, investing in the next generation of resilient youth leaders.
With the help of our donors, Journeys Within Our Community (JWOC) supports young, gifted Cambodians with the opportunity to improve their life circumstances. Together, we give them opportunities to fulfill their potential in education, employment and engagement with their community.

After pausing the recruitment of University students in 2020 due to COVID19, we are excited to announce that we will be re-opening our program in 2021!
Every year, it costs $1,200-$1,500 per student to support the cost of tuition fees, learning materials and additional training provided by JWOC to ensure that Cambodian youth can have decent jobs, engage in ongoing learning, and be socially responsible citizens ($4,800-$6,000 for 4 years of study).

JWOC provides high school students in Grades 10-12 with a tailored curriculum of English, Computer, Life Skills, Career Guidance and Youth Leadership, enabling them to graduate from the program equipped with the skills, knowledge and motivation needed to succeed and make informed decisions about whether they want to pursue further education, vocational training, or work.
An annual donation of $500 supports a student through our program ($1,000 for 2 years and 3 months of study at our Learning Center).
“A few years ago, I made a decision that I wanted to "change one life at a time" by gifting a student with a University scholarship. After much research, I found Journeys Within Our Community. I was so impressed with their history, and in particular, the way they were evolving with the needs of the community. I am so proud to be sponsoring 3 students with 4-year University Scholarships. JWOC is in close contact with all their students to be able to offer guidance as they advance through their University education. These young people will be the leaders of their local communities and perhaps the country in the future" - Judie P. (Los Angeles).
We invite you to become a part of the JWOC community, and to “change one life at a time”. If you are interested in sponsoring a student, please contact sponsor@jwoc.info
